One way we've done this in the past is by using multiple rows of injector nozzles - one for each row of cylinders on an engine. But with engines getting larger and more powerful, this approach has started to become less feasible. That's where Ford Global Technologies, LLC.'s new methods and systems come into play.Instead of using multiple rows of injector nozzles, Ford Global Technologies, LLC.'s methods and systems allow for the use of three different vertical planes - or "rows" - of injector nozzles on an injector body. This allows us to deliver up to five injections at once without having to wait between injections. In addition, since each row is located along a different vertical plane, we can maximize the amount of fuel delivered directly to each cylinder without any wasted gas traveling between rows or chambers. This means better performance and fewer emissions from your engine!
Methods and systems are provided for injecting fuel through three different rows of injector nozzles, where each row of the injector nozzle is arranged along a different vertical plane of the injector body. This combination creates a seal on the inside of the vehicle that prevents gas from entering through any holes in the structure - even if something goes wrong during re-entry.
